Short Bio
Jerrie Hurd has published novels, essays, short stories, nonfiction books, and worked as a journalist. She is best known for her novels which are as whimsical as their titles: Miss Ellie's Purple Sage Saloon, Kate Burke Shoots the Old West, and The Lady Pinkerton Gets Her Man. She is currently working on Rainbow Horses, a mystery, and Just Above Bone, a memoir.
She teaches fiction seminars for various universities and writer's organizations. She has also taught literature and basic writing at Clark College and Mercer County Community College.
She was a featured speaker at Segundo Encuetro Internacional de Escritoras in Rosario, Argentina and various other conferences. She did an National Public Radio spot in connection with the Center of the American West and a C-Span program in connection with Colorado Book Festival.
She is also a fine-art photographer whose most recent show was at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Colorado.
She lives in Boulder, Colorado with her husband, two dogs, and a cat that sleeps behind her computer monitor whenever she's working.
